Set on the very first protected Game Reserve in South Africa, White Elephant Safari Lodge is a luxury lodge in South Africa’s Elephant Coast region of KwaZulu-Natal.

The owners of White Elephant Safari Lodge are passionate about conservation and offer a superb Black Rhino tracking experience (with an excellent chance of viewing Black Rhino on foot), as well as fascinating Elephant research activities.

White Elephant Safari Lodge captures the history and romance of a bygone era perfectly in eight luxury safari tents, which provide the venue for a unique African experience.

The setting is simply stunning, on a hillside with views over Lake Jozini, providing a tranquil and romantic setting.

The location by Lake Jozini is magical and lake cruises with a good chance of seeing elephants bathing along the shore are a real highlight.

The eight luxury safari tents, each has a concrete floor, double canvas walls, a romantic ball and claw bath, outdoor canvas shower and a private veranda provide overlooking the bush.

Dining is excellent with a-la-carte service and a high standard of cuisine.

What’s so Special?

White Elephant is the only game lodge in South Africa to offer Kariba-like, water based safari activities (motorized and canoeing) as well as traditional game drives and walks.

The setting is very intimate and tranquil and White Elephant is certainly a place to kick back and unwind, perhaps at the end of a self-drive holiday in South Africa.

For those interested in fishing, this location is one of the best Tiger fishing spots in South Africa.

Bear in Mind

Pongola is not a Big 5 Game Reserve as there are no lion (which would increase conservation costs, and hence accommodation costs).

Pongola Game Reserve is effectively a malaria-free reserve.

Internet is available only in a small area of the main lodge, close to the office.
