Begin in Seoul, South Korea's buzzing capital city and explore its compelling mix of modern and ancient. There is much about Seoul which may surprise you.

From Seoul drive down to Songnisan National Park in the centre of the Peninsula with a stop at the Folk Village at Yongin. Enjoy the landscape and visit Beopjusa Buddhist Temple.

From Songnisan delve into Korean history and culture in Gyeongju where two nights are planned to discover this important region of Korean cultural heritage.

From Gyeongju head to Busan for a night and a taste of city life in this lively and pleasant port city before flying to Hangzhou to discover the best of Eastern China.

Spend 2 nights in Hangzhou with its famous West Lake before heading to Shanghai for 3 nights in China's most dynamic city. Visit the canal town of Suzhou and finish your exploration of Eastern China with 2 nights in the former capital of Nanjing.

This tour can easily be extended to visit Beijing or beyond.

Day 1: UK – Seoul

Fly from the UK to Seoul

Day 2: Seoul

On arrival in Seoul you will be met and transferred to your chosen hotel.

The rest of the day is free at leisure.

Day 3: Seoul

After breakfast, enjoy a morning tour of Seoul, including the National Museum, Gyongbok Palace and Seoul Tower on Mt. Namsan for a view of the city.

Day 4: Seoul – Mount Songnisan National Park

Depart Seoul and visit the Korean Folk Village to discovering living Korean heritage.

Head on to the National Park and visit Beopjusa Buddhist Temple before overnighting near Songnisan National Park.

The cherry blossoms in the spring, the green pine forest of summer and the lovely autumn colours make Mount Songnisan one of the most beautiful parks in South Korea at any time of year.

Day 5: Gyeongju

Today continue to Gyeongju and enjoy an afternoon excursion around Gyeongju.

The capital of the Shilla Kingdom for almost a thousand years, Gyeongju is a significant and fascinating heritage site.

Visit Cheomsongdae Astronomic Observatory, the Royal Tumuli Park & Bulguksa Temple.

Day 6: Gyeongju

After breakfast, enjoy a full day tour of Gyeongju, visiting Seokguram Grotto, The 4 face Buddha & Gwaeneung Royal Tomb. Also take a scenic drive to the Yangdong Folk Village Port.

Day 7: Busan

After breakfast, visit Unmoonsa Temple before travelling on to Busan, a lively and very pleasant port city on South Korea's South East Coast.

Visit Busan Tower, Jagalchi Fish market & Nampodong Street.

Day 8: Busan – Hangzhou

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Hangzhou where you will be met and transferred to your chosen hotel.

Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 9: Hangzhou

Enjoy a full day excursion around Hangzhou. In the morning visit Lingyin Temple, one of the largest Buddhist temples in China, and Dragon Well Village by West Lake.

Enjoy lunch before taking a cruise on beautiful West Lake, passing numerous temples, pagodas, pavilions, gardens, islands, and ornamental trees on this lake which has inspired artists and landscape designers over the centuries.

Day 10: Hangzhou - Shanghai

Transfer from Hangzhou to Shanghai by high speed rail (about 1 hour). On arrival in Shanghai you will be met and transferred to your chosen hotel.

In the afternoon experience something unique and quite a change from the normal tourist sights.

In the 1950's the Chinese government set up new communal villages of which Caoyang is the most well-known in Shanghai. The concept was to provide 'model homes for model workers'.

Spend the afternoon discovering the life of ordinary residents here.

During the visit, you'll head to local residences, wet markets and retirement communities to meet the people of this vibrant community which should provide a different perspective on modern China.

Day 11: Shanghai

Enjoy a full day tour of Shanghai, visiting some of the most important landmarks and locations in Shanghai, including the Jade Buddha Temple, the Bund, Yu Yuan Gardens, Shanghai Old Street, the French Concession and Xintiandi.

Day 12: Shanghai - Suzhou

Today enjoy a full day in Suzhou. You will be collected from your hotel by your driver and guide for a private excursion to Suzhou, one of China's famous water towns.

Day 13: Shanghai - Nanjing

Today travel to Nanjing by train where you will be met and transferred to your chosen hotel.

In the afternoon enjoy a half day tour of Nanjing.
