The Beach
Seminyak's Beach is a surf beach, with waves breaking on to the beach (great for those who like to hear the sound of the waves).
The feel is a little bit 'wild', especially if the breeze is up. It's possible to surf here but there is much better surfing at Kuta, Jimbaran or further south at Ulu Watu, but Boogie-boarders will be happy skimming across the surf here.
There are some areas flagged as unsafe for swimming but most of the beach is fine for swimmers.
There are a few beach hawkers along this stretch of beach, selling shells and watches or sarongs. Polite smiles and they will move on if you don't want to buy anything.
Shopping
Seminyak is full of wonderful little boutique shops selling all kinds of things, from locally designed clothing and beachwear to homeware and gifts. Part of the joy of being in Seminyak is wandering along the shopping streets and browsing the boutique shops.
Spas
Seminyak has numerous local Balinese spas offering massages and spa treatments at prices which make a daily spa treatment a must rather than a treat. Of course almost all the resorts have spas as well, but generally the local spas offer fantastic value. Checking out the spas in Seminyak is a must.
Dining
Seminyak has something to suit every palate and budget, from local hole in the wall Warung's, through mid-range restaurants to fine dining in places like Ku-De-Ta. Honeymoons in Seminyak have some great dining options for a romantic dinner out, including Ku-De-Ta, Breeze at Samaya or La Lucciola.
Nightlife
For those looking for a bit of nightlife, Seminyak is definitely the place to be. Don't worry, it's not Ibiza, but Seminyak is the focus for Bali's excellent nightlife, with some great bars and clubs.
Visit Ubud
A day trip to Ubud is a must for those not staying overnight in Ubud. Ubud is Bali's cultural capital, home to artists and the venue for Bali's famous dances and also one of the most stirkingly beautiful areas of Bali, with deep river valleys and lush green rice paddies. Only an hour or so from Seminyak, a day tour to Ubud is a great way to experience something of Bali's unique culture.
