Bali & Indonesia Destinations
Bali - Sanur
Sanur is a popular beach resort area in Bali with a quieter more village-like atmosphere than Kuta and Legian. Resorts line the long stretch of Sanur beach and there is a small choice of luxury and boutique accommodation.
Sanur has a good choice of restaurants and bars but not the livelier nightlife scene of Kuta or the trendier restaurants of Seminyak.
Only 45 minutes from Ubud, Sanur makes a good combination with a stay in Bali's hill country. We highly recommend Bali Pavilions in Sanur as one of our favourite boutique resorts in Bali.

Uluwatu Sunset & Kecak Dance
Visit the far south of Bali for sunset, and one of Bali's spectacular dance performances. The Kecak Dance (pronounced Ke-chack) is one of Bali's most colourful and liveliest dances.
In the afternoon visit Pura Luhur Uluwatu, undoubtedly the regions most illustrious temple. Perched 250 feet above the water, it’s a perfect vantage point to the beach below – one of Bali’s best surfing beaches.
Watch the huge waves roll in from the Indian Ocean and crash against the cliffs – and keep an eye out for monkeys.
The Kecak dance is one of the most famous of Bali’s many dances and is unusual because it has no musical accompaniment. The rhythm of the dance is produced by the chanting 'monkey' chorus, a troupe of over 150 bare-chested men, making a synchronized "chak-achak-achak" clicking sounds while swaying their bodies and waving their hands. The ‘Kecak’ name comes from the chanting noise of "Cak-cak-cak"
The dance is played in five acts and lasts roughly 45 minutes and is taken from the Hindu epic Ramayana, which tells the story of Prince Rama and his rescue of Princess Sita, who has been kidnapped by the evil King of Lanka.

Bayad Eco Trek
This 6 km trek takes you through the most spectacular area of Bali introducing you to the diverse flora and fauna of the island. You’ll venture into hidden caves, discover waterfalls and lush gardens and visit Bayad, a traditional village.
Operated with responsible ethics in mind, this trek does not impact the pristine environment and supports conservation efforts by offering a tree-planting option at the end of the trek.
Start at 8 am with a drive of around 75 minutes to the traditional Balinese village of Bayad.
On arrival local guides will welcome you. Enjoy and relax with a cup of tea or coffee and Balinese cake.
Set off on the 2-hour trek, of about 5 km. The trek takes you through lush tropical forest cut by small rivers and streams. Visit a spice centre, a waterfall, herb garden and a pumpkin garden with an unusual Balinese bamboo water organ.
There is also a chance to visit Goa Maya. This 1.5 km cave is an amazing underground labyrinth and contains sacred Hindu statues.
During the trek, learn more about the area’s fragile eco-system. There is also a chance to donate a tree and plant it by the track.
At the end of your trek, lunch will be served surrounded by the beautiful atmosphere of Petanu valley. Return to your hotel this afternoon.
We recommend wearing sportswear and sturdy shoes. We also recommend bringing insect repellent, a hat and sunscreen.

Sanur Beach
The beach in Sanur is a long stretch of golden sand backed by a pedestrian walkway which seperates the resorts from the sand. The beach is pleasant but not spectacular.
There is a quite a tide in Sanur so the sea can go some distance out. Sanur is a fishing village still and it's common to see the fishing boats coming and going.
Watersports are also popular in Sanur, including jet-skis.
Sanur Village
Sanur still maintains a village-like feel and the area is still quite residential. A stroll down the main street in Sanur is quite illuminating in revealing the many hidden temples tucked away in little alleys behind the shops and houses. Virtually every few yards reveals another temple.
Dining
There are plenty of places to eat in Sanur, mostly catering to tourists, with varying levels of quality. Sanur doesn't have the same kind of fine dining restaurants or the same scope as Seminyak.
Top Things To Do in Sanur
- Chill out by the beach
- Explore the shops
- Enjoy a Daily spa treatment
- Discover Sanur's many hidden temples
- Take a day trip to Ubud
