Western Cape
You’re now heading towards Spring time and the new growth on the trees and on the vines in the Cape Winelands make for a wonderful time of rejuvenation. The weather starts to warm up and the days become longer, with the hopeful harsh winter weather behind you.
The weather can however remain very changeable and one can experience all four seasons in a day.
The winds should start to turn to come from the SE which traditionally is a sign of decent weather ahead, though potentially windy.
This is the start of the peak season for Whale watching along the Southern Cape coast and is also a period of rejuvenation for not just the flora, but the fauna too.
The temperatures around this time of year should be warming up to the mid to high teens, however still remaining cooler in the evenings.
Inland areas: Northern Cape, North West, Limpopo, Gauteng & the Lowveld
This time of year is lovely to visit as it remains lovely and dry and warm during the day time with cooler evenings. Day time temperatures remain lovely mid to high twenties.
Safari in the Lowveld at this time of year is amazing as it makes for great game viewing given the lack of water and thinner bush, but early mornings remain cold and the temperatures climb steadily to mid twenties during the day.
Being the peak of the dry season, and the amazing weather, the game viewing is also excellent at this time of year.
KwaZulu-Natal
This time of year is also lovely and warm and dry in KwaZulu-Natal. Protracted periods of sunshine along the coast and lovely clear days in the inland and mountains.
Humidity levels will reduce at this time of year making it feel more comfortable during the night times.
Inland temperatures will be a much cooler as you head up into midlands and the mountains. Winter weather systems can bring snow to the Drakensberg Mountains which make them scenically very beautiful and fabulous for walking.
Average temperatures for Durban around this time of year increase to the late twenties degrees celcius.
