By June, the Southwestern monsoon is in full sway, with several days of the month seeing a heavy afternoon downpour. Given the fact that rainfall is concentrated in sudden downpours, this shouldn’t preclude a beach holiday at this time of year in the West or South Coasts of Sri Lanka – most days are still sunny and clear.

The East of Sri Lanka is much more settled at this time of year and a great alternative for a relaxing part of a Sri Lanka holiday.

Things are cooling down a bit in Sri Lanka’s Hill Country at this time of year, which is where those open fireplaces in colonial era hotels in Nuwara Elya are very welcome.

The Cultural Triangle region is generally dry, hot and a bit breezy at this time of year.
