October is a transitional month in Sri Lanka as the Southwest monsoon loses steam and drier conditions begin to prevail.
Rainfall is still relatively high in October however and anywhere on the West and South coast can still expect to see several days in the month with a heavy downpour for an hour or two.
Sri Lanka’s Hill Country also still sees higher rainfall in October.
Likewise on the East Coast, the drier conditions are beginning to give way to the wetter conditions under the Northeastern monsoon.
